Building Bigger Levees is not the Answer. Why? Because along with Bigger Levees, comes more weight to hold such a Levee. That’s why A Levee is as strong as its foundation. That is the thinking of Man. In Southeast Louisiana, Bigger Levees, will never be built on mash lands, the marsh land cannot support bigger levees. They would rather loose land and build levees on more solid foundations. Causing the displacement of many people, loosing people’s homes, lands, business, etc., and not being accountable for their actions. Man’s mind is limited.

Before, there were no levees to protect against Hurricanes and storm surges. There was lands about 3’ to 4’ above the water to give protection. The lands were on solid foundations. Over time, Salt Water Intrusion accrued (The washing away of land from beneath the surface by the back and forth movement of Salt Water). This is called Erosion. As a result, less and less land is left to protect against Hurricanes and storm surges. The foundation is still there. It is now, 6’ to 10’ below the surface. When mud levees are used, they are washed away from beneath and a soft foundation is left above the solid foundation below. And so they see no land, and they retrieve back until they see land.

Protection is not based on Size or Height. Protection is using what worked in the past. Rebuild land by protecting what caused there destruction in the past. Height and Size has nothing to do with protection in Southeast Louisiana. Land Distance is the protection. We live on moving Land. Protection has to be moving. Protection has to stand firm. Protection has to stop the underlying cause of the destruction of land. Protection has to be capable of being higher when needed, not later. Protection has to be compatible with its foundation, weight wise. Protection has to be used with material that was used before, but protected.

This System provides all of the above and more. This System is not complicated. This System is very cost effective. This System can be funded by State and Federal Gov’t where ever being built. Each State can provide its own workers to build this system. Providing lots of Jobs in that State. Build as Funds provides. And taking a large burden off of the Federal Gov’t.
